The signs of improvement in the national housing market scene are now manifesting themselves in the Los Alamos market.
The average home price in the last three months (December - February) and the average price-per-square-foot for these periods are somewhat higher than last year's. 29% of the homes (an unusually large percentage) sold in Los Alamos in the last three months, were sold above their asking price, indicating significant competition between offers. As of March 21st, 2017, there are 19 active listings in Los Alamos County, an exceedingly low number. The figure below shows how the number of homes available for sale dipped in recent months. In summary, house sales are picking up, and prices are beginning to increase. The low mortgage rates make this an attractive market for buyers, and the very low inventory makes this a very attractive market for sellers!
