The signs of improvement in the national housing market scene are now manifesting themselves in the Los Alamos market. The average home price in the last three months (July - September) and the average price-per-square-foot for these periods are significantly higher than last year's. 33% of the homes (an unusually large percentage) sold in Los Alamos in the last three months, were sold above their asking price, indicating significant competition between offers. As of October 4, 2017, there are 30 active listings in Los Alamos County. The figure below shows how the number of homes available for sale dipped in recent months. In summary, house sales are picking up, and prices are significantly increasing. The low mortgage rates make this an attractive market for buyers, and the very low inventory makes this a very attractive market for sellers!
